ABORIGINAL CONSULTATION
Involving the Aboriginal Communities
Many Aboriginal communities reside in proximity to Lake Ontario and the Darlington Nuclear site. During the new project's Environmental Impact Assessment process, Ontario Power Generation inc. involved these communities through the Aboriginal Engagement Program starting in fall 2006 to ensure their voices and concerns were heard and accommodated. Although this program was created for the New project, close contact had already been maintained with these communities for the already existing nuclear plant for many years.
